Naked and Afraid premiered on Discovery Channel in the summer of 2013 and became an instant hit, breaking through as one of the most watched shows in the history of the network. At the core of the series success was its raw and unfiltered look at survival in its most simple form; one man and one woman attempting to live for 21 days with no food, water or clothes in remote locations around the globe.

From the outset it was obvious that this show would be controversial-the idea of filming two strangers naked in a survival situation was difficult for some in the industry to embrace. Once the series hit air the critics had a different opinion-it became immediately clear that the “naked” aspect of the series was more metaphor than publicity stunt.

At the center of this was renegade’s strict focus on making Naked and Afraid non-exploitative and purely survival based. The cast members being nude became insignificant once audiences began to watch… this show had universal appeal because of its substance and emotional authenticity…not its nudity.

With 21 days of shooting per episode, over 4 continents and 12 intrepid cast members from all walks of life, Naked and Afraid has broken the mold in the survival genre and Renegade is just getting started.
